Since I’ve settled a bit here, I’ve been taking some walks along the river, and it’s been so lovely—the smell, the breeze, the fresh air. I found a nice rock to sit on; it’s been my favorite spot to sit, watch the waves hit the rocks, and hear the sounds they make. Ive been listening to The Sword of Summer: Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asguard by Rick Riordan, and it mixes well with the waves; I’m enjoying this take on Norse myths and imagining the story as it’s being told to me. Sitting by the water, it feels like the world is going away; any stress slips away, and I feel brand new.
In other news, shetland has updated their episodes, and I am immensely enjoying the latest season (number 8) and the storyline is perfect. I do miss Jimmy Perez; he was a lovely character, and his ending in the show was very much worthy of his character. I love the newer character, Ruth Calder; she brings a new turn to the show and brings out a local DI while keeping the main characters involved and growing them. I love how Tosh is a much more secure and robust character than when the show started.
Ive been finding things to play in the background while doing some things that aren’t too fun. So far, ive listened to Vera (seasons 1-13), Shetland (seasons 1-8), Reacher (seasons 1-2), Death in Paradise (season 1), American Gods (season 1) and TeenWolf (season 1). When I dont have a show in the background, I have been listening to Crime over Coffee Podcast, The Gleaner Podcast, The Shit No One Tells You About Writing, The Broski report (youtube) and a handful of other things as well, but I dont remember currently. The Gleaner podcast is charming and features some people I know, so it’s fun to hear them tell their stories and understand what they are talking about. The Shit No One Tells You About Writing is a beautiful podcast by Bianca Marais with all kinds of writing stuff (publishing, writer’s block, and so much more); I found it on a whim, and it’s been quite lovely to listen to. The BroskiReport is from Brittany Broski, and I find them engaging and funny; even if alone, they make you not feel alone. I highly recommend listening if you’re looking for something new. Crime over Coffee is a crime podcast that is respectful yet funny, like I feel like im part of a friend group sitting with them as they talk about the case and more often than not, I add commentary that one or both of them say next and I feel like we would get along great haha.
Ive been job searching and have yet to hear back from anyone, so I went to the local agency to get help with my search and resume, among other things. The meeting was earlier today, and I already have made a lot of progress ahead and may have a change in my career path; ive been open to a change, but I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go; however, I may have a better idea now. Ive been working to gather some things to help build more vital skills and certificates, among other things, and I look forward to what life holds for me.
Anywho, I’m off to sleep here. It’s rather late, and I hope to wake up early. I hope your day is lovely, and I will see you soon!
Till Next Time,
Meg
