How I Keep Sane

I dont always have my shit together, but I have these things I do that may help you, my lovely readers, so I thought I’d share in case it could help. For reference, I have ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and sleep issues. On to the Things!

Finch: Self-Care Pet. I use this daily. I named my Penguin Appa, and I use it to plan my day while learning about where Appa is exploring.

Breeze: Mental Health. This is new for me, but I like it so far. It is simple and straightforward, and it didn’t say there was a monthly charge, so I’ll see how it works.

There’s a breathing technique that I can’t remember the name of. It starts with Y, which I’ve been doing when stressed, anxious, or just feeling off. A guy introduced me to it randomly about four years ago, and it will bother me until I figure out what it’s called. It may be Yamaha, but that still feels wrong.

Walking. It seems ridiculous, but it does help alot and keeps me moving to help process things, and it’s good cardio for the heart and whatnot.

Being near the water. I’m not sure why, but every time I’m near the water, it makes me relax and centers me. So I take walks by the water as much as possible, take a picnic down to the waterfront if it’s nice enough and absorb all of the relaxation I can get.

I am Sober. This is an app that can track a variety of things, and it sends a reminder for your daily pledge and whatnot. I used to love this app, but now it’s not something I enjoy using. However, I did subscribe for a year, so I’m using it not to waste the money I put in it.

Pokémon Go. It keeps me moving, catching all different types of Pokémon and hatching eggs while i use the steps I take to get Pokémon and see what’s around my town.

Music. My mood depends on my music; I have an eclectic taste, and I’m always listening to something. It helps keep things I shouldn’t be thinking away and keeps me motivated to move, relax and just be.

Yoga. It is the only way I can meditate, I’m not sure why, but I’m so focused on my breathing and the movements I’m doing that it doesn’t register anything else in my brain. It’s also good for flexibility and movement and helps control deep breathing and lowering anxiety.

Mint Tea. Im not sure why, but I can’t be stressed while sipping mint tea; I currently have a teapot beside me as im typing this. There’s something in mint tea that helps with gut health, keeps you hydrated essentially as it’s just hot mint water, and keeps your breath fresh, which is an unexpected plus.

All of the above help in little ways over the day and contribute to the bigger picture, which can look different depending on the day because life likes to throw things at you. They may not work for years, but they work for me right now, and it may change in the future, too.  Anywho, I’m off for the day. I need to get ready for work so I will leave you with those. If you have anything that works for you, please comment and let me know if you’ve tried any of the ones above. There are also community services that can help, so I encourage you to look into what’s available in your area if you’re looking for something to help you with whatever you need.

Till Next Time,

Meg
