J.D Robb and Thought Processes

I have loved this series for years. I dont remember exactly how I found the series but I do remember flipping through a binder with a list of authors you may like as well (Libraries are amazing!). I learned later that J.D Robb is a pseudonym for Nora Roberts and I love her books and writing style so it was the perfect book series for me. I started with the first book Naked in Death and I haven’t stopped since, there is a link to the full list of published and some to come out here.

Im currently on Shadows In Death and I love how the characters are flowing in and you can read them out of order if you wanted but like I would recommend going by published date as you can see the growth and the bond between characters as it grows.

When I read there are two moods that I have. My brain will either have a cartoon version of it playing (think 1980’s cartoons) or highlight and emphasize the words/letters that mean the most in the given sentence. I know some who have a running movie that goes as you follow the story, and I know some who dont have anything running through their head while reading.

I love the differences in styles of reading and that everyone has a different way of processing and taking in information, sometimes it can be hard to understand how others can do certain things that may be your normal (like having a running commentary of what’s going on around you vs not having one) but its what makes everyone individual and unique.

I like learning how others think/process information and how their thought process works. Mines all over the place and I find it difficult to explain to others who dont have one somewhat similar to mine cause it just sounds and is chaotic and well to borrow my dad’s (loving) phrase I sound a little crazy sometimes (part of my charm) haha.

ADHD thoughts tend to be more chaotic from what I’ve learned and I hope everyone has a Timon on their side, my Timon has a running and ever updating dictionary and thesaurus on what im trying to say and what the expressions, random noises and hand motions mean. Something I do recommend is to treat your Timon to something they enjoy (in this case chips/popcorn and a movie/book) and say thank you for being in their life and letting them know that you are grateful to have met them, I dont think I do this enough I truly dont know what I would do if I didn’t have my Timon in my life and I hope they feel the same.

Im running out of words and focus here so I think im going to end this here, this turned more rambly than intended so I hope it’s easy to understand.  Before I head off for the day, is there a particular learning/thought process you have that you find fascinating or confusing?

I hope everyone’s having a lovely day and staying safe!

Meg

Webcomics and Cozy Blankets

I have been in a big reading mood lately, but it’s been chiefly with webcomics, and some ebooks for the most part. I use three apps for them so far; they are Tapas, Webtoon and Manta. They have so many talented people sharing works on them, and it’s quite lovely to look at the artwork and the skills that went into creating these works.

 I didn’t get into webcomics till about two years ago; part of me just didn’t like them cause it wasn’t the same as a good paperback book, but then I saw this ad on Instagram, and I got hooked, so I downloaded webtoons first, and I haven’t looked back since. The story’s that got me hooked was Asuras Bride and Lore Olympus, they are both fantastic! The creator who made Asuras Bride has another comic out called Midnight Poppy Land, it’s fantastic!!

Some of the webtoon stories in my library are;

Midnight Poppy Land

Murzz

Eyes On Me

Adventures of God

Tori and Samuel

Socializing 101

Prince of Ovale

My Wierd Roommate

Da Fam Bam

Valentine

Idiots Dont Catch Colds

On Manta Id recommend the following;

A Bookstore Romance

I’ll Save This Damned Family!

The Emperors Mask

Love Lies

W

Beau and The Beast

Under the Oak Tree

200% in Love.

On Tapas the following are some excellent stories to read if you’re interested;

Some of the stories are free to read; some need points past a specific spot, but all are amazing if you are interested in checking them out.  And if you find any or use any of the apps above im always up for a new story/comic if you ever want to share what you’ve been reading!

With that in mind, Do you as a reader prefer ebooks/webcomics to paperbacks and printed comics? Leave your answer in the comments below, or you can email me at adventureswithmegeri@gmail.com

Im off for the day! I hope everyone is staying safe and having a delightful day!

Till Next Time,

Meg

P.s All of the stories above go well with a cozy blanket and a cup of whatever you fancy!

What I’ve Been Up To And A Thank You To You!

I spent the last week or so in a depressive rut.  I didn’t have any words to express that, so this is the first post I’ve written since then. Now I’ve still been in a blah mood for enough time but it was a good week besides that, I got to spend some time with my dad and granny, I got that chance to work with a co-worker I haven’t really seen in weeks, and I celebrated my birthday!

I’m not sure what caused the depressive rut but I do know its a continually shifting mood in regards to me, it comes and goes as it pleases and will leave when its ready. When it happens I don’t push myself, find more time to do the things I love, talk to those who are important to me and take more time for me when possible. For my birthday, I got some things that will help with the ruts and keep me quite happy and busy throughout winter this year (and probably longer).

The gifts given to me are ones i always run out of and im always looking for! They are as follows;

A sketch book (hardcover), Paintbrushes, Acrylic Paint, A Giant ball of yarn (size of my torso), An Acrylic Paper pad, Paint Palette, Elephant bookends , Elephant tea pot (i love tea and elephants), A Calligraphy pen

I just ran out of most of those, so it was the perfect timing, and im immensely grateful to the people in my life; without them, I probably wouldn’t be here.

It’s been going on three years since I started this blog, and Im very grateful to those who follow, comment and read these. Something about becoming a year older has made me realize how much I take for granted. I just want to say thank you, so stick around for as long as you’d like, and thank you for listening to my rambles here, haha.

Im off to do some budgeting, sketching and drink some more coffee. I hope you have a lovely week, stay safe and I will be here if you want a listening ear.

Till Next Time,

Meg

Some new gems i found recently!

I had the immense joy of having an adventure with my best friend recently, and we had to do a little shopping run. Some backstory on them, they are a BIG movie person! They also can translate my most backwards sentence at an alarmingly fast rate (happens quite often, they joke that there’s a dictionary in their head to correct what I say and what my face is trying to say while words are having great difficulty) and even my dad cant get some of the sentences she can!

Anywho, when we were in the store, we made a deal to get essential things and then take a quick peek at the movies(for her) and the yarn (for me). While there, I was looking around, and I walked down a random aisle, and I found the most scarring and enjoyable movie from my childhood (second to The Lion King); it was a box set of The Land Before Time: The Complete Collection (14 movies!!). I love Ducky and Petrie the most, such tiny beings in the film but so sassy and delightful!

Besides finding the movie set, I found books 52 and 53 of the in death series by J. D. Robb, which is quite exciting I’m looking into ordering the 51st but with the book shortage (lack of supplies and demand higher, see @tubbyandcoos thread on Twitter for a rundown on the situation) and saving money in my nest egg I’m having a battle here. I love this series; I am slowly getting every book in the series, and I’m determined to eventually have them all in hardcover so it’s all matching and it’s a little easier for me to hold (i love paperbacks, but hardcover doesn’t fan out like them). I’m halfway through Faithless in Death currently, and it’s just so good; I love the writing style and pace so far.  Here is a link to the series list if anyone’s interested in J. D. Robb’s Full list

I shared this recently, but this playlist is fantastic; it has some upbeat chill music to keep you going and help with background noises for better focus!  The link is here Comfort Zone.

Mentally I am at a seaside cottage (see image for post), not really here but here. It’s a bit of a day where I can’t seem to focus too much, but I am getting a lot done considering and a decent amount of it is very focused (I thank the over-ear noise-cancelling headphones that are a blessing) and the above playlist. When my brain can’t focus, I tend to put on these headphones and a playlist (changes by the mood, it’s been a chill background type of music lately) playing for hours, and I seem to be able to focus much better than if I’m not wearing the headphones. I don’t know if it’s just an ADHD thing, a lack of sleep (low quality of sleep for some time), or I am just bored, but it seems to be stronger than usual on my days off and thankfully not this bad when I’m at work, so I don’t have it reflecting on my quality of work.

ADHD is a funny thing sometimes, you can’t force it to cooperate, and it will do its own thing more often than not. Looking back on my posts, I can tell when I was having a good or rough time focusing based on the length and type of post made. Today is a pretty good day for writing, and focus is so-so; there’s more bouncing between my one-topic posts. Some of my posts are quite short and sweet, some are quite rambly, and then there’s my in-between. Todays my more rambling post with a larger dose of focus I haven’t had in a few weeks, I’m more carefree today, so the language is flowier from me and feels very blended (I could be biased saying that) compared to what I think it is.

TikTok and more of my latest life updates.

This is a bit of a chaotic post but it very much shows my thought process for 90% of the time.

So I downloaded tiktok recently and spent a good three hours going through my for you page and i didnt understand the hype for the app initially but im kinda getting it now. Its going to be a fun time finding out the right people and things to follow.

I also got into Manta and have been reading a story called A Bookstore Romance and its so good! I highly recomend it, now its $4.99-$5.99 a month for access to everything but you can read for free you may hit a wall in some of the stories. I very much recommend the romance section, it just lifts the heart and brings joy.

Another thing i have been obsessed with lately has been American Gods, ive listened to the book narrated by neil gaiman and its a delight! Ive been starting the show from the beginning and i am waiting for the next season to come out because it is just so good and detailed and just dang amazingly done. Also the actress who plays laura moon is just *cheffs kiss* and the  actor who plays shadow Moon  has clearly done his homework and is doing an amzing job to bring his character to life! Im currently on season 2 and its damn good.

Music ive been istening to most (in no particular order) is;

Artists:

Alec Benjamin – Taylor Swift – I.M – BIGBANG – King Princess – Fletcher – Shania Twain – Nickelback – 5 Seconds of Summer  – Lewis Capaldi – Josh Turner

Playlists:

Comfort Zone – This is Monsta X – Love Pop – This Is BIGBANG – This Is Taylor Swift – Bridgerton: Official Playlist – Hot Country – Cals Playlist – Broken Heart – Country Chill

I may have listened to more but thats all I remember currently.

Something I’ve been really into is planning out my week roughly, working on a budget and keeping track of all expenses and such, and I started doing yoga once a week again. Its been a hectic time thoughts wise and there’s been lots of changes happening at work, and things in my personal life that I’m trying to change or workout before solidifying my plans for the future.

Any who I’m off, I hope you’re all staying safe and all is going well!

Till Next Time,

Meg

Budgeting

This past year I’ve really paid attention to how things are spent and I decided to get a book that was designed to help people budget cause I’ve tried to use a blank notebook but it didn’t work for me.  So I looked up online for some books and I chose one that was within my price range and in a lovely colour because ADHD and keeping it in my memory. It is mint green, and Im greatly enjoying using it. I find it much less stressful and it makes me want to actually fill everything out as soon as it gets spent (if it gets spent) and it makes me so excited, I feel like im getting something put together or at least starting.

If anyone is thinking or debating about getting one it’s a great recommendation, I found mine from amazon Link Here I also got a planner linked here, to help keep track of bills, hours worked, and whatever else I needed to keep track of.

Anywho thats all for me, I hope everyone’s staying safe and having a lovely long weekend!

Vaccine Shots and Relaxing

I got my second vaccine last evening, it was an interesting experience to say the least.

So to start everything was going as per usual when i got there, asking all the questions to keep everyone safe. I got through to the staff confirming who i am and what not. The nurses let me in and sat me down, the doc came over, went through the steps and got me the shot. I started having hives about 2-3 minutes after my shot and it could be from food, environment or something anyone was wearing/eating that’s in the air. Anywho the hives spread From my head to my toes and some minor throat swelling, I took two allergy pills, drank a whole lotta water and sat and chilled from the time I got home till I went to bed.

I woke up with my throat back to normal and the hives were gone (yay!!) I just have some aches, joint pain, stiffness, dizziness, and nausea. Advils wonderful for days like this and im enjoying my time to relax and take it easy as i get real dizzy if i stand too for too long. SO I’m sitting here just typing every so often so I don’t have to look down too much in one go.

Im testing out a new bluetooth keyboard too. It’s a cute typewriter style that’s multi-colored and I quite like it. It has the perfect clicky sounds as I’m typing. It’s quite nice. I highly recommend a keyboard like this. I got mine online (from AJAZZ) and it is very much worth the hype. It connects to all devices and it lasts for up to 7 hours on a battery charge.

Anywho, I’m off to relax and maybe take a nap for the headache if I can.

Till Next TIme,

Meg

Some ways to Keep Boredom at bay while Staying Home

With all that is happening in the world currently, it is safer for all to practice social distancing and staying home unless you need something or you are an essential worker. In all the free time currently given to me, I decided to share some of the things I’ve been doing since the shutdown started to entertain myself and keep some sanity. I may miss a few things but i will include all that I remember and highly recommend if you need a little break or something new to try out.

Yoga– Yogawithadriene is a lovely calm yoga lady who posts all types of yoga for all levels and is a great introduction to yoga (It took me a few months and a few different people on youtube to get into yoga and stick with it) I recommend her to everyone who wants to get into yoga.

Painting/drawing– It is a wonderful way to get things out that you may or may not be able to cultivate words for. It’s also a lovely way to just clear your thought process or show appreciation for something that is helping you through anything you may have or are currently going through.

Sewing– I love crafting in general and i have all the time in the world i want to give to any project so i have been creating little things, and i have found a plan for a facemask (not a medical-grade but it works for general running around should you need to and keeps me busy), I’m really enjoying using my hands to create something that can be useful and a great way to put some positivity into the world.

Candles and Reading– I like to keep my area around me to be  … zen or calm i guess for lack of better words. I have at least one candle lit at most times to spread a lovely smell throughout my house and helps give a bit of atmosphere to help keep things calm and collected even if you don’t feel it at the time. it also helps with winding down and makes me feel cozy when i have my evening cup of mint tea and am journaling. Many books can be read right now, many are new coming out too!

Break times – I use it quite liberally throughout my day, i have my morning break (coffee/tea #1) when i first wake up with a small bite to eat, round 2 about 10-11 am for my decaf coffee and eat my breakfast with it, round 3 around 4-5pm of mint tea, and finally about 7-8 my evening mint tea and i finish that before heading to bed. It took a while for me to figure out the system but I’ve got it worked out and enjoy it.

 Flowers– I treat myself to a bouquet of flowers usually once a month give or take and even given the circumstances i feel like i want to keep things somewhat normal to help my sanity and flowers bring colour, life and a nice reminder to stop and take things in as they are.

So some background for my next bit; I am a person who needs something in the background for my thoughts to be clear, I write listening to podcasts or audiobooks (or documentaries/music whichever i feel like having on) it helps to keep the part of my thought process that breaks off to distract busy with something so im able to get a clear path to my main goal of the moment. It can be strange, confusing at times but its how im able to get things out so i will gladly take it. It doesn’t just apply to writing, I find it to be easier to clean, fold laundry etc while having something on in the background and makes me feel like i accomplished more (i really can’t tell you why it’s just a thing that happens). Im constantly listening to something regardless of what im doing it keeps everything running smooth and I usually learn something throughout the experience.

Journaling/writing this blog– I am free to express myself with whatever i feel like posting here and in the case of journaling expressing the deep things i don’t share with anyone but i do need to get out. It is helping to balance things and hopefully keep myself/others entertained, and maybe encourage others to pick up writing whether it be for ones-self or for others to see.

Music– There is so much music coming out that I’m really enjoying as it is a great time to blast everything from childhood songs to the latest 5 seconds of summer album (amazing album btw if you haven’t heard it yet) or Niall Horan’s’ Heartbreak Weather (on repeat here). a lot of artists are writing and maybe dropping new music (very exciting) so there is something new to look forward to when putting on Spotify in the morning.

Also if you really are bored give tiktok a try. I caved I have it now, still don’t fully understand it however it’s highly entertaining if you need a palate cleanser.

I hope everyone reading this is safe, healthy and if anyone wants to reach out and talk im here (emails in about me).
